Saya mendapat comment beberapa hari lalu tentang tulisan saya mengenai film The Death Sentece (http://mahacorp.blog.friendster.com/2008/08/nonton-death-sentence/). Kebetulan sang komentator adalah seorang penggemar film India yang merasa keberatan dengan tulisan saya mengenai film India. Dari tulisan ini saya coba menjawab. Sebenarnya saya bisa saja mempost dicomment, tetapi saya ingin menjadikannya dipost yang berbeda agar teman2 pembaca lain bisa mengomentarinya karena ini topik yang hot loh. This is it:

Saudara Komentator diatas, terimakasih atas informasi mendetail tentang perfilman India. Ok, saya coba menanggapi balik pernyataan2 anda diatas.
pertama, apa anda punya Account Frienster, saya dengan senang hati ingin mengirim comment ini langsung kepada anda.

Kedua, saya bingung anda panggil saya herman. Sejak kapan saya berganti nama menjadi herman.

Ketiga, ketika kuliah saya punya 2 dosen dikampus saya dari India dan saya punya hubungan cukup dekat dengan keduanya. Dikantor saya, saya duduk disamping seorang berkebangsaan India. Dari negara bagian Andra Pradesh, Kotanya Hiderabad, berbahasa Telugu. Jadi saya taulah biar nda banyak tentang India.

Keempat, mengenai pernyataan anda: “Saya menyayangkan sekali lisan seperti itu , menurut saya daripada membuat kuping penyuka India panas lebih baik mengeluarkan lisan yang sopan seadanya. Jika perfilman indonesia dikritik bangsa lain karena film indonesia jelek, tidak kreatif dan hanya mengusung tema horor, mitos dan seksualitas bagaimana perasaan kita?…”
Man, siapa pun yang berkata apapun bagi saya tidak apa2 selama itu adalah kebenaran. Bagaimana saya bisa menentang kalu itu memang kebenaran. Adalah hal bodoh kalu kuping saya jadi panas ketika saya mendengar saya pembohong kalu memang saya ini pembohong. Kalu memang film Indonesia itu jelek, dan kebenarannya jelek, apa yang bisa saya katakan?

Kelima, saya rasa setiap orang punya hak dalam men-generalisasi fakta2 yang dia ketahui. Saya sendiri punya standar bahwa kalu 8 dari 10 kasus menyatakan valid, saya bisa generalisasi. Artinya begini, ketika saya berjumpa dengan 10 orang Manado, 8 diantaranya hobinya bergaya, saya bisa generalisasi bahwa Orang Manado itu adalah orang2 yang modis, walaupun tidak semua orang manado modis, tetapi 8 dari 10 orang manado yang saya jumpai adalah modis, saya bisa generalisasi. Nah, selama pengalaman hidup saya, setela lulus SMA, tidak pernah sekalipun saya jumpai Film India yang enak ditonton. Kalu anda bisa kasih saya satu judul saja, saya akan tonton tetapi siap2 saya hina kalu memang jelek. Karena fakta diatas, saya bisa meng-generalisir bahwa film india itu jelek.

Yang terakhir, karya seni itu universal. Menurut Oscar Wilde: Tidak ada buku bermoral dan tidak bermoral, yang ada hanya buku yang ditulis dengan baik dan yang ditulis dengan buruk. menurut saya, Juan Mahaganti, film itu cuma terbagi 3, Jelek, menengah dan bagus. Secara kualitas, tidak ada film india, indonesia, holiwud, boliwud, siauwud, jakartawud, eropawud, sorgawud, nerakawud. Film apapun itu, hanya terbagi atas 3 ini. Jelek, menengah dan bagus. Saya bingung jika ada orang2 yang menggilai film dari satu tempat. Contoh seperti anda penggemar film india. Apakah anda hanya mengkonsumsi film india? Ketika anda disuruh menilai 2 film berbeda, satu India satu negara lain, walaupun yang satu lebih baik dari yang lain, apakah anda akan kesampingkan intuisi estetika seni anda hanya karena anda fanatik film dari satu negara?
Saya sebagai salah satu penggemar film memilih untuk menikmati karya seni berkualitas. Tidak peduli dari negara manapun itu. Ketika dia berkualitas, saya akan akui memang berkualitas. Anda mengambil posisi menggemari film India, yang saya tidak tahu apakah itu film berkualitas atau tidak. Saya bukanlah seorang yang anti film india, tetapi saya adalah orang yang tidak suka menonton film jelek, tidak peduli itu dari negara manapun. Apakah saya anti India? Saya baru menyelesaikan 2 novel yang ditulis oleh orang India, The Namesake dan Buddha (By Deepak Chopra). Saya membacanya karena memang berkualitas, bukan karena ditulis oleh orang India. Saya bahkan mengakui literatur India, karena bisa menghasilkan penulis seperti Tagore, orang Asia pertama yang meraih Nobel (dia memperolehnya dibidang sastra). Nah, yang saya bingung ini adalah anda. Bisa anda jawab pada saya, anda itu penggemar seni yang mana? menengah, jelek atau bagus. Terserah anda jawabnya.

When I write this post, I’ve just finished watching the record of Oprah Winfrey’s Show with Senator Obama as her guest (it was recorded in 2006). They talked so much about Obama’s new book “Audacity of Hope”, about Obama’s family and his plan for presidency. One line by Oprah: Before I read this book (Audacity of Hope), I feel hope. But after I finished it, I was more hopeful.” Same situation like Oprah, I’m inspired by Senator Obama. He is the blessing of God for America at the time when the country needs it most. He offers again the hope that was lost from Americans for so long. Hope to reclaim American dreams (I’ll write at another post about how precious dream actually, how American valued the Dream, different with us Indonesian that think dream as something silly). I’ve listened lots of politician (Orang Indonesia gitu loch). I’ll be not easily cheated by their utopia words. But never been before I’m enchanted by life and deeds, supported by speaking ability shown by Mr. Obama.

But one thing that saddens me is, Mr. Obama offer hope for American, but for us Indonesian, no hope seems shines on the horizon. Facing the 2009 election, I don’t know to whom I will vote. No candidates that offer me hope as Mr. Obama give for American. SBY? He is a very good person. Educated, able to lead, democratic, has a guts to eradicate corruption, firm, and brave to sacrifices his popularity to raise fuel price at the time when it was needed to be. But what that make me unconfident with SBY to leads for another 5 years is his inability to deal with radical Muslims like FPI and hizbut Tahrir. No efforts by SBY administration to fight against these brutal, radical, parochial, organizations. How can I bet by choose him if the integration of the whole nation is at stake. Look what happened in Monas when FPI attacked the peaceful demonstration of Pluralist activist. These guys are careless for our unity, they threatening it and by then threatening our beloved Pancasila and United Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. SBY seems careless with the hazardous situation.

The only political party that seems opposing these radicals is PDIP. PDIP also rejects to support the stupid anti-pornographic bills. But is it means that I will vote for PDIP? I almost do so, but for what happened recently, when PDIP fired one of the representative member because he admit that he received a check from Bank Indonesia scandal, it makes me suspect that PDIP actually doesn’t support the corruption eradication efforts. Golkar? Mmmm, No. Why? Because Golkar supports the stupid Anti-pornographic bills. And also, Golkar has lots of cadres that convicted guilty for corruption scandal. Golkar even once proposed to lawmaker about bills that will allow former criminals to be elected as member of representatives. What a crazy idea. Looks also for what happened in Golkar parlementary candidacy in our province. Some party leaders put their spouse and siblings as the candidates of legislative member (Caleg). My God, please don’t let this wonderful democracy become a new path for another cronyism and “dinastynism”. New mean for nepotism. Aha, there is another party that is opposing radicalism. PKB. But PKB is no longer the same. It’s headed by new chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar, a person that I think is less nationalist than Gus Dur, party head that he deposed. I also doubt Muhaimin’s sense of nationalism. Is he embraced the same position to support pluralism as Gus Dur does? I’m afraid to take a chance.

What else that available? Prabowo? Or Wiranto? I never doubt for their nationalism. They are among the best ABRI leaders. But the problem is, are they support the democracy, freedom of speech and expression? Recalling what happened with many activists at Soeharto era (while both of them were in power). To be sure, once again, I’m afraid to bet. I can’t imagine, when I’m writing for another post, somebody slam my door, “Mr. Mahaganti, You are under arrest because what you are writing is against government”, like what happened in Malaysia recently. Pro-democracy blogger was arrested and sentenced by 2 year in prison because his writings. Hiiii!!! NGERI!!! How about Sutiyoso? He was Military Commander of Jakarta at the time of 27 July attacks of PDI Headquarters. Ok. I admit that I voted for Wiranto in 2004 Presidential Election. But that because he was the candidates of Golkar. And my father told e to vote for him (my father is a fanatic hard-line Golkar voters). But for this coming election, I want to vote by my own self, independently.

PKS, I have to confess that when PKS declared that they believe in economic freedom, I was amazed and convinced that this party is another Islamic party. They are intellectuals. But for their stance to support stupid anti-pornographic bills, vote for them, I don’t think so. Mmm, what’s left on the list? Sutrisno Bachir, Muhaimin, Ryas Rasyid, etc, Hmm, no candidates can convince me. Sutrisno Bachir, I don’t know why, but I don’t like him. It’s maybe because his TV commercial that I think boasting too much about him. Ryas Rasyid? I watch he spoke at Metro TV’s program “The Candidate”. He is an intellectual, ready to lead, expert in state administration, a PhD, graduated from respected university. But, when asked how he see the Ahmadiyah problem, seems that he against the deviant sect. I doubt if he respect the Indonesian wonderful plurality. So, I think I don’t get the ideal candidate that can offer the same thing that Barrack Obama do. I’m hopeless.

Oprah said to Obama in the show, “I never intended to run for any political office, but if there is someone can offer me hope for change in our country, I’ll be behind him. And the man is you (Obama)”. Just like Oprah, I don’t have any ambition for any office, I love my job now, and I love teaching so much. Anyway, politic is sucks. But, if there is someone or some party that can offer me the change for our beloved country Indonesia, our beloved province of North Sulawesi, or our beloved regency of Siau Tagulandang Biaro. The change that I can believe in. Offer me hope, the audacity of hope. Hope for progress, freedom and democracy. I’ll be there to support it. I’ll vote for him, I’ll vote for the party. But, just until the voting process. No more, politics makes me sick.

In March Issue of Time magazine, it’s reporting about 10 best recent ideas that reshape our life. The 10th idea draw my attention; Re-Judaizing Jesus (Me-Yahudikan Kembali Yesus). As we know, western church for a long centuries had been influenced by anti-Semitic thought, that even they try to pull the person of Jesus (Time said Jesus as the most well-known Jews) away from Judaism, by stressing at the believe that He was renewing Jewish culture, Jewish believe and practices. He is a rebellious Jew that came against his own nation. He is (I use this tenses because I believe He still alive) far from Jews, he make a breakthrough that even cost His own life. Some Christian historian in Nazi Germany even tried to erase His Jewish heredity through Maria, the same thing that they did by Paul’s family tree. So, for a very long time, Jesus and Paul was De-Judaized. But recent development show a new trend.

But, is this a so sophisticated idea??Is this a new idea that can shape most of the Christian? If you talk about western Church, I think so. But take some time to visit our local Church, Gereja Masehi Injili di Minahasa (Church of Jesus Christ in Minahasa) or Gereja Masehi Injili di Sangihe Talaud. There is never be any single Idea for them to separate Jesus from Hebrew teaching, history or religion. Jesus is seen as a Jew, Jew as Jesus. Heard to the sermon delivered by Priest. You will get bored to hear terms “Bangsa Israel”. Most of the sermon is about Bangs Israel (Israelites). Bangsa Israel this and Bangsa Israel that. Seems like Bangsa Israel is all the world to them. Bangsa Israel, Jews, Hebrew, is seems like center of the believes. One day, my father grumbled after attended our church in Siau (church where his father serve as a priest), “huh, our priests have no other topic but “Bangsa Israel”.

So, referring this fact, I think GMIM and GMIST are more advance compare with their western counterpart in Judaizing Jesus. Jesus is always a Hebrew for them, in His believes and religious practice. In fact, ask member of congregation if they know the difference between Hebrew and Christianity, they have no idea. For them, Hebrew is Christian, Christian is Hebrew. Some of them even think that Israelites is Christian, which is why some Christians in North Sulawesi support the war started by Israel (Modern Israel state) because they believe, war between Israel and Arab nations is a war between Christian and Muslim. A misunderstanding that must be ended soon.

I want to express my deepest apology for Cinta Laura for posting the quotation about cinta will go to Australia to study Indonesian, which is actually not true and never been spoken by Cinta. But it still didn’t shake my strong opposition about the way you are talking and behaving on TV screen.

Yes, it’s simply the best. It’s better than Batman. I enjoy it so much. I even learn what is the purpose of life and our existance. I’ll explain it latter.

Have you watched Batman terbaru????? WOW!!! Awesome, best superhero movie, EVER!!!!! Joker?? My goodness, Worst villain ever!! (I mean he is worst for us good people, so it means, worst villain, for us good people, is best villain in performance, hehehehe).

The central figure in this movie, by no doubt, is JOKER!!! Hihihihihihi, oh what a performance. When I heard that Heath Ledger will plays the role, I doubt if he can match the quality brought by Jack Nicholson in BATMAN (By Tim Burton). After I watch the movie; Simply, He did it more than Jack, In cruelty?? Of course. In insanity? Hmm, not to far different. But in improvisation??? Wow, this Joker is far different from that comic Joker. He is world class criminal, not a comic criminal. I can say, he is an Gotham’s Osama Bin Laden. This Ledger’s Joker is far more serious, mysterious compare with Nicholson’s Joker or Comic Joker that full with party, colors and of course Joke—r. Clearly, world has lost one of the greatest actor ever born. My deepest condolences for Mr. Ledger. I admire him. What a performance!

Comic Based Movie??

Time Magazine’s reviewed the movie, “The Dark Knight is bound to

haunt you long after you’ve told yourself, Aah, it’s only a comic-book movie.”

Hahaha, yeah that’s true!! That’s Nollan’s purpose with the movie. Make us forget that this is a comic-book movie. Ask most of the people come out from TO (Twenty-One Theatre).

Social Experiment

Do you know how I define a great movie? Great movie is a movie that make us forget its irrelevancies (impossibility, unnecessary, bloopers, etc), but make us stress so much in its relevancies (philosophy, acting, action, drama, facts, irony etc). Hahahaha! This definition I found myself. I have the copyright, hehehe, Nyombong dikit…

Now, let’s talk about one part of the film that catch my attention so much. When people in panic and they plan to move Gotham’s population by ships, two ships was hijacked by bomb (when and how that bomb planted remain a mystery, that is one of the irrelevancy). Joker then announces to all passengers that there is two ships now sailing. One of the ships full with criminals of Arkham, the other one boarded by panic Gotham citizens. In each ship, crews find the trigger that will blow other ship into pieces. Joker rules the game. If he saw anyone jump out of the ship, he will blow it apart. So, passengers at each ship have to choose, their life or life of passenger at the other ship. If the ship doesn’t blow until 12 AM, Joker will hit the trigger for them. Finally, no one presses the trigger that will blow another ship, Batman come to rescue, Joker arrested.

The question come into my mind, is the same thing will happen when we make some experiment using same situation? Is it true that the passengers will never press the trigger? In batman, off course the answer is no, but is it going to happen when we conduct the same research? Off course we will never have the exact answer. Because no one has the guts as Joker has. But the scenario still wondering me. What will happen?? No one knows the real answer. When I ask my students about this thing, I get various answers. Most of them concluded the same thing happen at the movie will going to occur, but then again I try to convince them that you can’t take the final answer before you conduct scientific research, which show us the satisfying answer. No other alternatives to find the answer rather than to conduct the same “social experiment” done by Joker. Hehehe, they were puzzling, who’s going to conduct the experiment? Anyway, that’s just joke come from my mind. Just Jokes!!! Kids, don’t do that at home!

Dunia selebritas (ca’ ila, macam selebritis betul saja) diramaikan oleh pendatang baru yang fenomenal. Sang artis (saya sering bingung dengan sebutan “artis” ini. Seorang artis (artist) seharusnya adalah orang yang menghasilkan karya seni (art). Apa karya seni mereka? Sinetron? Anda sebut sinetron seni? Yah, seni tak berkelas, seni kebodohan, tapi tetap seni kang? Ya okelah, bilang saja mereka artis. Tetapi kalu aktris sinetron bisa disebut artis, pasti seorang pengamen bisa disebut artis), wow penjelasan panjang, ok. Sang artis ini bernama cinta laura. Jujur, saya tidak suka cinta laura sebagaimana saya tidak suka Manchester United. Tetapi, benci saya kepada Manchester United memang harus diakui tidak beralasan. Tetapi saya punya seluruh alasan didunia untuk tidak mencintai cincaw laura. Inilah alasan saya tidak menyukai cinta laura.

Karena cinta laura itu orang bodoh. Orang bodoh tidak pernah pantas untuk menjadi contoh anak2 muda di Indonesia. Kenapa dia bodoh? Dia datang ke Indonesia sejak berumur 7 tahun. Sekarang dia sudah berumur 15 tahun, berarti dia sudah menghabisakan 8 tahun di Indonesia. Dia punya Ibu yang melahirkannya yang berdarah Indonesia, yang punya bahasa Ibu Indonesia, yang tentu saja pada banyak waktu memperdengarkan bahasa Ibu ini kepada anaknya. Tetapi tetap saja anaknya ini kesulitan dalam berbahas Indonesia yang baik dan benar, dengan pelafalan yang benar dan dengan tata bahasa yang benar sehingga dia harus mencampurnya dengan bahasa asing. Pasti saja dia ini punya IQ dibawah rata-rata orang normal, karena dia tidak bisa menguasai bahasa ditempat dia tinggal selama 8 tahun. Sebagai perbandingan saja, saya mengenal seorang murid MIS yang beribu Jerman dan berayah Indonesia namanya Jan Suhartono. Sekarang duduk dibangku kelas 10 high school dan menghabiskan sebagian besar hidupnya di Jerman. Dalam berbicara berbahasa Indonesia dia berbicara tanpa aksen bodoh seperti yang sering ditunjukan oleh cincaw tolol itu. Yang lebih extreme, saya punya murid dari Korea Selatan, beribu berbapa asli Korea dan datang ke Indonesia semenjak kelas 2 SMP dan sekarang sudah di Kelas 3 SMA, berarti dia baru 5 Tahun di Indonesia, dan menghabiskan sebagian besar hidupnya di Indonesia. Ketika anda mendengar dia berbicara, memang ada aksen Koreanya sedikit, seperti pengucapan “R” yang sering kali tidak sempurna. Saya punya teman orang Philippine yang sekarang sangat fasih berlogat Manado tanpa aksen pilipin lagi. Dia Indonesia baru 5 tahun lalu. Lalu bagaimana bisa si cinta laura ini begitu bodohnya. Ok. Kita bisa maklumi kalau dia memang punya IQ rendah. Dia sukar dalam berkomunikasi, mungkin saja dia punya gejala Autism ketika masih kecil. Tetapi tampaknya tidak ada gejala itu, cinta adalah seorang remaja sehat. Ok. Penjelasan logis dari ketidak fasihannya ini mungkin karena IQ jongkoknya. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, cinta ternyata sudah punya penyelesaian. Berikut kutipan kata-kata cinta laura:

” Bahasa Indonesia saya buruk sekali, jadi Cinta will be going to Australia to improve Bahasa Indonesia Cinta “

Cinta ini tampakanya orang yang suka belajar dan mengikuti perintah orang-orang tua dulu: carilah ilmu sampai kenegeri China. Tetapi, untuk belajar “Bahasa Indonesia” dinegeri orang? Nah kan, betulah bahwa cinta laura ini adalah anak yang bodoh. Satu bukti lagi dari kebodohannya adalah ketika ditanya wartawan tentang Global warming, cinta merespon: “I think global warming is cool.” Hebat, hebat! Cinta, siapa guru geografi-mu sayang?

Mamanya cinta bilang kalu dia itu katanya student A. Student A?!?!?!?!?!?! A untuk seorang anak yang perlu belajar bahasa Indonesia di Australia, yang bilang Global Warming is cool?? Sekolah apa yang kasih anak tolol macam ini nilai A??? Ternyata sekolah itu adalah Jakarta International School (yang adalah sekolah cinta sejak SD). Semua pembaca, saya informasikan di Manado ada Manado International School yang akan membuat cinta ini nda mungkin dapat A saking tololnya. Melihat kualitas murid macam cinta ini, kelihatannya MIS lebih berkualitas dari JIS. Dalam sebuah wawancara cinta berkata seperti ini:

“Aku pengen ke America atau ke England kalau udah masuk ke university. Kalau di England pengen ke Oxford, kalau di America pengen ke Harvard atau Yale atau Princeton”

Hehehe, Oxford? Harvard? Yale? Princeton? Cinta, I’m not discouraging you, but you have a moon to be reach with your hands. Anyway, it’s good to have a dream. With your ability (lack of competence in linguistic, even can’t learn your mother language and that “cool” global warming) I’m sure you have a bright future to face (I mean, your bright future is only about your face) but not a bright future a head (I mean, talking about your head and something jelly inside, it’s hopeless).

Nah, saudara2, itulah alasan saya tidak menyukai cinta laura, karena dia bodoh. Tetapi murid saya mencoba menjelaskan bahwa cinta laura itu tidak bodoh tetapi hanya sombong, katanya dia suka pamer dan berbicara macam bule tadampar itu katanya adalah salah satu wujud kesombongannya. Hmmm, sombong??!! Tampaknya saya punya analisa lain dengan gejala pura-pura bodohnya cincaw ini.

Fact:

1.1. Cinta laura berkebangsaan Jerman

2.2. Cinta laura tidak suka berbahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar

3.3. Cinta laura suka melebih-lebihkan ke-Indoannya dari pada ke-Indonesiaannya.

4.4. Cinta laura dalam suatu wawancara pernah berkata bahwa dia makan nasi hanya satu bulan sekali, makanan yang paling dia gandrungi adalah makanan Jepang.

5.5. Cinta laura hobi ngumpulin aksesoris tengkorak.

Fakta lain:

1. 1.Nazism lahir di Jerman. (Lihat fakta 1 diatas)

2. 2. Nazism sangat menjunjung tinggi kebudayaa Jerman termasuk bahasanya sehingga haram hukumnya merendahkan budaya jerman yang sangat tinggi. (Lihat fakta 2 diatas)

3.3. Nazism menjunjung tinggi kemurnian ras. Ras Arya (orang Jerman) adalah ras terbaik didunia yang patut dibanggakan. Ras lain (Yahudi, Asiatic Mongoloid (selain Jepang), Malayan Mongoloid (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philipine), Nordic (Finland, Rusia) dan banyak ras lainnya dianggap ras rendahan bahkan disebut Sub-Human, setengah binatang. (Lihat fakta 3 diatas)

4.4. Jepang adalah sekutu Jerman pada perang dunia II, Jerman menganggap bangasa Jepang adalah yang paling layak menguasai Asia dan orang Jepang punya rasa bangga berlebihan atas budaya mereka pada waktu itu (Mereka juga Fasis). (Lihat Fakta 4 diatas)

5.5. Hitler punya pasukan khusus untuk melindunginya yang bersumpah hanya setia kepada sang Fuhrer. Pasukan ini dinamakan Schutzstaffel disingkat SS. SS punya emblem, lambang dan tanda kepangkatan berupa bentuk Tengkorak.

Nah, dari 2 fakta antara Cincaw Laura dan Nazism diatas, bisa saja kita tarik kesimpulan bahwa Cinta Laura itu seorang Neo-Nazi (Pengikut Nazi setelah PD 2). Secara dia itu kan keturunan Jerman, lalu menjunjung tinggi ke-Jermanannya, lalu menganggap bahasa kita ini rendahan sehingga harus dicampur-campur dengan bahasa asing. Yah, bisa saja kan. Tetapi apa betul cinta laura itu Neo-Nazi saya tidak tahu, tetapi tampaknya dari kehidupan sehari-harinya itu yang dia tunjukan.

Kesimpulan:

Hanya ada 3 kemungkinan dari syndrome yang ditunjukan oleh Cinta Laura. Pertama, apakah dia bodoh? Kalu dia tidak bodoh, berarti dia sombong. Kalau dia tidak sombong atau bodoh, berarti dia seorang Neo-Nazi. Pilih mana, terserah anda. Tetapi, apakah dia jadi bodoh, sombong atau seorang Neo-Nazi, tetaplah dia bukanlah contoh yang baik bagi banyak anak muda Indonesia. Kita jangan biarkan anak-anak muda kita mengidolakan seorang bodoh, atau seorang sombong atau seorang Neo-Nazi. Ya Tuhan, tolonglah bangsa ini.

Artinya, anda mengalihkan pencarian kebenaran kita (tentang ketololan cinta laura) kearah penyerangan pribadi saya. Artinya, saya tidak akan acuhkan pernyataan seperti itu, karena itu adalah ciri2 orang tolol yang tidak bisa menghindari dari kenyataan ketololan cinta laura, dengan menciptakan ketololannya sendiri. Orang yang suka cinta laura dengan berusaha menutupi ketololan cinta laura yang sudah kelihatan tersebut adalah sama tololnya dengan cinta laura.

Have you seen latest news about what recently happened at Java, eh, those rice story. What they called it…? Eerr, yeah, super Toy. I don’t know why they give it such a bizarre name, hehehe super Toy, that’s must be a great toy. Super Toy! Seeds that was promised can double, triple, oh no, quadruple our rice production; lead us to the longed rice production self-sufficiency. What a dream. First batch was inaugurated by president, broadcasted by the whole media, watched by the whole nation and create proud, hope and future profit for many, especially farmers, seeds researcher, company that produce the seeds (some of the owner is president’s close aides), president (boost his popularity for next year election) and of course Indonesian people in general.

Latter it’s found that the seeds produce nothing but empty grain. The farmers grew angry, they ask for government’s promise to redeem their loss, people starts blaming each other, politician react to the issue just like a hungry dog (especially the opposition) and Mr. President still without comment. But video shows President lifted up paddies in rice field has been shown to public showing that Mr. President was putting great hope with the seeds.

Minister of Agriculture then lift up his voice and said that the seed actually still in experimentation process and not a final product, so the empty grain is might be happen in a rice seed experimentation.

I think this is not first time our President engaged in a fail experiment. If you remember the “Blue Energy” scandal. President put a very great hope for the invention. He even stated that “Blue Energy” (water as a main source of energy) is greatest gift of Indonesian to the world. Yea, that was what he said. Many scientists said the idea is hard to be realized but Mr. President with his close allies goes on with the project, form a company to execute and give millions of money from taxpayers to fund the crazy project. In the near future, it was known that the invention is a fraud, the inventor run away and was caught in a hospital. They found latter that he had mental disorder because pressure and stress. He went crazy because that crazy idea, hahahaha!

The interesting fact is, person that introduce SBY to the inventor of “blue stupid energy”, is the same person that sponsoring super toy; Mr. Heru Lelono. So, this is Lelono’s second proposal. Chairman of Democratic Party when asked about the issue stated that SBY as a leader is always responsive about every invention that can be used for people’s welfare, that is why he always prioritize every creative invention that can bring prosperity to all Indonesian, because he is a responsible leader. But the problem is he has too much guts and spirit.

But wait a minute, He is a PhD right? Means, he is an educated person. He went through stratum of academic level, from bachelor to Doctorate, clearly it’s not a short period. He must be learned lots of theory and produce or evaluate some theory by his research project in university. He must write a thesis to earn his PhD. So, he can’t be easily cheated because as a PhD, he must know that every truth, to be accepted as truth, it has to be tested using scientific method. For sure, he has the skepticism for he had struggled with science for years. He must know that the seed is still in experimentation phase, so don’t use it a lot because the experimentation facing risk of failure. Don’t show to the press because that is not a verified finding. Don’t use to vast precious paddy wet fields, because it’s just an experiment, right? Don’t make any promises because it’s not the end product. By his academic experience, he should always raise the question; is it true? But clearly, our beloved president has lost that scientific instinct, because he always easily believes all the information given to him. What happen with you Dr. SBY? Have you lost your skepticism and criticism? I know you can do better than that when dealing with the “utopia” information from your inner circle, you are a PhD right?

Dear Readers, may I ask you a question? What are the plants that come into your mind when I said word, Irrigation, cultivated, or nurtured? Hmm, I’m sure most of you will answer one the staple food species like rice, wheat or corn. Now, take a look carefully to this fascinating fact that I found in this month National Geographic (September issue);

A recent NASA analysis of satellite imagery shows that nearly 50,000 square miles of turf are under cultivation in the United States, making grass the single largest irrigated crop in the country.

Guys, that is the fact. Grass is the single largest irrigated crop in the greatest nation in the world. Can you find the irony of the situation we are facing here? Grass is more irrigated than the rest of the plants. Now, I’m not the expert in the field, but by sight I can assume that; grass, especial that have been mowed, don’t produce enough oxygen and don’t absorb enough Carbon dioxide needed for us to fight global warming. I even also think that mower’s machine spent more CO2 than absorbed by those grass. But still, these US citizens that released most carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, more than any other country, that their government never shows their intended to ratify Kyoto Protocol, make grass as their single largest irrigated crop in the country. Clearly they care grass much more the fate of the whole planet. Now, I find the answer why Americans always think that “grass next door always greener.”

Food shortage in some parts of the world (Thank God, not in Manado) had led to riots in Asia, Africa and Latin America (NG). I learned in economic class, price increase because of shortage in supply. World that we live now, facing this problem of food shortage that leads to riots in developing country. I’m sure the problem is not because there is too little soil left to plant for grain and staple. There are plenty of fertile soils but most of us use it to fulfill our needs for beautiful sceneries.

I spent my life 3.5 years, living in a dorm surrounded by green grass. That grass even become our campus’ Primadona to attract new students to study there.. My professor (former Univ. President, Dr. Laoh) even said that school spent hundreds million of rupiah to keep that grass green. A lot of money (and precious soil) for the plant that doesn’t help us with the problem of global warming or the plant that produce us nothing but decoration. The cost will be higher if you add the externalities; Mower sound that create voice pollution, disturbing my nap.

But that fact even also relieves me. Because knowing that there are many spare soil, means it still can sustain the growing numbers of population.
